New for artists!  Open Studio If you don't have your own studio or you are tired of
working on your art alone, you can bring your current art projects to the BAC and work in a
lively environment with other artists and art lovers. Materials are not provided: open to drawing, painting, pastels, collage, all other media that can safely be performed in a non-specialist studio with wood floors (e.g. no soldering, glassblowing, other media that use fire.) No instruction provided, just a good and inspiring work space.

Somerville artists Leslie Shershow and George Summers will begin their autumn semesters of Jewelry and Metalsmithing (for Shershow) and Batik (for Summers) on September 13 at the Brookline Arts Center.

Shershow is a respected and talented jeweler who makes ironic and politically charged wearable sculpture. She teaches adults' classes on Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights from 6:30 to 9:30, while also teaching teens and adults on Monday and Tuesday afternoons at 3:30 p.m.

The Brookline Arts Center's widely-respected and fun art class for toddlers 2 and 3, with a parent, will begin for a short, special 2-week session (4 classes: pick Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday) next week. The Brookline Arts Center is organizing a major project to place art by Brookline artists throughout the community in April 2010. The Palette Project was created by Brookline Arts Center board members as a community-building project to raise awareness of local art, Brookline artists, and the art education programs at the Brookline Arts Center.
