As a long time resident of South Brookline, and a former student at Baker School when dinosaurs roamed the earth, it has become increasingly apparent to me that our distance from the center of town makes it very difficult for residents in this area to get services which are more easily gotten from those who are proximate to the village area. The Senior Center and  (god willing) the Teen Center are just two examples of wonderful services which are not readily available to those who live in our leafy environs due to transportation issues.

Although there are many people in South Brookline who are not financially challenged, there are many who do live hand to mouth and there is no easy access to the Food Bank and other social Services - no drop off points for food, or a town based transportation as used to be available in Boston (The Mayor's MOB Senior Shuttle).

The South Brookline Neighborhood Association is extremely active and works together on many fronts - I wonder if there is a way for some brainstorming to take place which could help ameliorate these lack of services which are common to the rest of town.
