Honduras Sunday at St. Paul's Brookline

Parishioners from St. Paul's Brookline are marking seven years of commitment to a unique volunteer effort in the village of Chaguite and neighboring villages in Honduras at a special church service and celebration, "Honduras Sunday," on April 25 at 10 am.
The relationship between Chaguite and St. Paul's was begun in 2003 after St. Paul's pastor at the time, George Chapman, and his wife Margie traveled to Honduras. They reported on the dire need in remote mountain communities, and a volunteer commitment was quickly established.
During previous trips, the volunteers have worked on the construction of a school, a community center/church building, and an enhanced water and sanitation system. Residents of Chaguite used to have to walk twenty minutes on mountain paths to haul water. Now a system of cisterns and pipes provides water for the village.
This summer, a group of St. Paul's parishioners and friends will volunteer in Honduras August 15-22.
Checks to support the work in Chaguite can be made out to “St. Paul’s” with “Honduras” in the memo line and sent to St. Paul’s Church, 15 St. Paul St., Brookline MA, 02446. All are invited to learn more about this effort on April 25 at the 10 am church service and festive coffee hour following the service.
