With the continuing increase in the demand for the services provided by the Brookline Emergency Food Pantry comes the need for a greater supply of non-perishable food and consumer goods. The Brookline Food Pantry used to be able to satisfy the community's needs through its participation in the Greater Boston Food Bank program. However, this is no longer the case. Now, in addition to the items provided by the Food Bank, the Brookline Food Pantry purchases goods from local supermarkets. About half of the items we give out are now purchased by the Brookline Food Pantry, rather than received gratis from the Food Bank. This results in a continuing need for cash donations as well as food drives by local organizations and individuals.
If you would be interested in making a donation, whether in the form of a financial contribution, non-perishable food, or by volunteering your time and skills, please contact Jim Margolis at 617-901-0848.
