So many parks and open space events! Oh my.

 The Brookline Parks and Open Space Division is pleased to announce a number of special events happening in spring and summer 2010, and the
debut of a "Special Events" section on our website.  Please visit
www.brooklinema.gov/Parks and click on the new "Special Events" button for
all the details.  We will be adding additional information and events in
the coming months, so check back regularly.  Here are the highlights of
our upcoming events, beginning this weekend!

EARTH DAY EVENTS
Join the weeklong celebration of Earth Day, and celebrate our earth by
participitating in a community Earth Day event.  Here are the highlights
from Brookline GreenSpace Alliance and the Parks and Open Space Division:

JUNIPER PLAYGROUND RE-OPENING CELEBRATION
Saturday, May 8, 10 - 11:30am
Join us in celebrating the successful renovation of this neighborhood
playground, including new play equipment for older and younger children,
new site furniture for picnicking and quiet enjoyment, additional
plantings for color and beauty, and restored granite work. Juniper
Playground is at the end of Juniper Street.  Free light refreshments &
entertainment!

BROOKLINE BIKES BEACON & COMMUNITY CELEBRATION OF OUR PARKS
Sunday, May 23, 2010
Why? For fun. For free. We want to celebrate, encourage, and call
attention to the environmental, physical, and social benefits of
bicycling, and to celebrate Brookline's parks and open spaces.
When? 11:30am - 12:15pm Registration for Bicycle Parade. 12:30 pm Ride
starts promptly! 1pm - 3pm Community Celebration of our Parks with free
refreshments and live entertainment at Amory Park.
Where? Amory Park (Amory Street and Beacon Street)
Who can join the bicycle parade? Cyclists who can ride 5 miles on a hilly
course at a speed of 8 miles per hour without stopping. Generally, that
means 10 years or older and using a reliable bicycle. There will be a
co-parade for younger and novice riders.
Who can attend the community celebration at Amory Park?  Everyone is
welcome!  Riders, neighbors and other visitors are invited to enjoy the
park celebration.

DANE PARK RE-OPENING CELEBRATION
Saturday, June 5, 1 - 2:30pm
Dane Park will soon be open to the public. Join us in celebrating the
successful renovation of this special passive park on Hammond Street at
Woodland Road.
More details on the renovation and the upcoming re-opening celebration
will be coming soon.
