Snakes at the Main...Main Library that is.
From Jan. 6 through Feb. 3, in honor of the world debut of “Madame White
Snake”, commissioned by Opera Boston, there will be a Chinese Culture
Exhibit in Hunneman Hall and the three first floor display cases at the
Main Library, and in the display case at Coolidge Corner. On display in
Hunneman Hall: Chinese Brush painting and calligraphy by renowned artist
and Brookline resident, Mrs. Chao-Mei Lin, joined by professionals from
Musical Evening with Madame White Snake
The Madame White Snake opera will premiere in February 2010. In an exclusive sneak preview, Soprano Sol Kim Bentley and Tenor Julius Ahn will sing the love arias of the opera to the accompaniment of Timothy Steele. The opera's creator and librettist, Cerise Lim Jacobs will present a heart-rendering narration of the 1000 year old Chinese myth.
Brought to you by the Friends of Madame White Snake and the friends of the Brookline Public Library. The event is FREE but seating is LIMITED. Refreshments and chinese delicacies served after the presentation.
